CLUB SPORTS

Congrats to Danny Kaplan!
Rice Club baseball has started the season 3-0 with all 3 wins coming by complete game shutouts by their pitchers. Danny Kaplan was one of them and he earned the National Club Baseball Div.II pitcher of the week honors. Kaplan tossed 7 innings of dominant baseball on the mound for the Owls to pick up his 1st win of the season. Kaplan allowed 0 ER, just 1 hit, and had 7 K's against Tulane on the road.

Early Registration for Flying Owls 5k ends March 11!
Come run or walk with the 7th Annual Flying Owls 5k on April 7, 2012! We encourage families, teams, students, runners and walkers to come out for a scenic run through the Rice University campus and for a post-race celebration with refreshments and entertainment. Spring Recess Adventure-Canoe & Camp in Big Thicket National Preserves
March 22–24
Two hours away, The Village Creek Paddle Trail at Big Thicket National Preserve is a wonderful trail for overnight canoeing! We will be camping out both nights on the sandbars, eating breakfast and dinner at camp, and enjoying lunch out on the water. This National Preserve is a beautiful habitat with lots of fishing, deer, turtles, many different types of birds, tall East Texas trees, and more! We will be leaving at 8:00 a.m. on March 22 and returning around 4:00 p.m. on March 24. Transportation, meals, equipment rentals, park fees, and guides are included. Cost is $75 for Recreation Center members and $100 for non-members.

Southwest Summer Tour - Whitewater Rafting, Caving, Rock Climbing, Mountain Biking & Hiking!
Join R.O.P.E. on a weeklong southwest adventure featuring a trek across Texas, New Mexico, and ending up in Moab, Utah. Along our journey we will rock climb, mountain bike on some exciting trails, and go white water rafting down some raging rapids. We will stop at Arches and Carlsbad Caverns National Parks. At Arches National Park we will admire one of a kind sandstone arches that are not seen anywhere else in the world, and at Carlsbad Caverns we will take a journey beneath the earth's surface to look at a truly amazing limestone cave system.
